What We Offer

We offer Canoe Tours of the waterways of Kent, from half day to 7 day duration, for individuals or small groups of between 2 and 3 people. Below are some details of our main tours, but we are completely flexible and very happy to tailor make journeys to your individual requiments. Our 3 main areas of operation are the River Medway, the River Stour and the Hythe Royal Military Canal (to find out more about these waterways, please click Here). All of our Tours are well suited for photographers/artists and nature lovers, and most include the following as standard;

  • Premium Quality Food and Drink. We're proud of the high standard of campfire cuisine that we offer. Half and Full Day Tours include Breakfast or Lunch and all Drinks. Multi Day Tours includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and all drinks. Please click Here for an example of our Menus.
  • A Free Photographic record of your Tour, taken by your guide and sent to you by email a week after your Tour (you can also have a short film made of your trip for an extra charge of £250, please enquire about this when booking).
  • Digital and Pinhole Photography tuition if requested (pinhole is a very old style of photography and uses the most basic cameras to create magical images, such as those you can see at the bottom of our Photo Gallery Here).
  • Wild food gathering (dependent on season) and cooking tuition if requested.

Prices are;

Half Day - £120 for 1 or £140 for 2

Full Day - £170 for 1 or £190 for 2

For Multi Day Tours just multiply the day rate by the number of days. For example, a 2 day tour for 2 people will be £190 per day, which means a total of £380 for both people.

Prices for Seal Watching Tours are £140

Prices for 'Bring Your Own Gear' Tours are £140 per half day per group (up to 15 people) or £170 per full day.

Gift Vouchers are available for any Tour!

Click on each Tour Description below to learn more about what we can offer. The Tours are graded as follows - Grade 1 (easy, anybody can do these), Grade 2 (harder, a little fitness is required), Grade 3 (harder, but if you can walk a few miles or work in the garden all afternoon without a problem, you'll be ok) and Grade 4 (more strenuous, you should be prepared for some hard work on these trips, and you'll arrive at the end point pretty exhausted). If you have any questions about anything at all, including about any special offers we are promoting at the moment, please call us on 07864 743157or email us on info@canoekent.com. Thanks.

The River Medway

The River Medway is over 70 miles long from its source in the small village of Turners Hill to where it meets the North Sea near Sheerness. It’s banks and islands are crowded with castles, palaces, docks and fortifications and its waters are home to a great variety of birds and animals (Seals are often seen on the estuary, and Kingfisher and Heron are a common sight upriver). On weekends it can get busy with pleasure boats but paddle on a weekday and you’re likely to have the river to yourself.

The River Stour

The River Stour is a little travelled, peaceful waterway flanked at first by forest, then by Stodmarsh bird reserve and marsh. The area we paddle is downstream of the historic City of Canterbury, between the village of Fordwich (Canterbury's old port and now a very small settlement made up of just 2 pubs and England's smallest town hall) and the English Channel at Pegwell Bay.

The Hythe Royal Military Canal

The Hythe Royal Military Canal is 28 miles long and the quietest of all Kent waterways. The only other craft you’ll meet here are canoes or row boats and they are rare, even on sunny weekends.  The canal is registered as a ‘Site of Special Scientific Interest’, a ‘Local Wildlife Site’ and also a ‘Scheduled Ancient Monument’. There are several 13th century churches and World War II monuments on it's banks that you can visit and Kingfisher, Heron and Marsh Frog are a common sight.

Half Day - paddle around West Hythe

Grade 1

Full Day with a choice of 3 different Tours - West Hythe to Hythe return, West Hythe to St Rumwold’s Church return and Ham Street to Appledore return.

Grade 1

Multi Day Trip on the Canal - Go for a 2 day/1 night Tour or paddle the whole canal in 4 or 5 days, starting in Hythe and finishing in Fairlight via the tidal waters around the ancient port of Rye.

Grade 2/3
